Amy Horowitz – a Walk in the Park?

For the past five years Amy has made portraits of young adults in Washington Square Park and the West Village of New York City, documenting those on the cusp of adulthood in one of the most culturally diverse areas of the country. Amy is moved by how youth here explore their identities as they transition into adulthood during a tumultuous time in history. She looks for people with something visually interesting (hair, colour, jewellery, tattoos, clothing) and an inner authenticity and vulnerability. Many are students pursuing creative careers in fashion, film, music, or art. A vibrant, beautiful and important document.
